2018 Vendor Rules & Regulations
Mission Statement:
• The purpose of the Hartford Farmers Market is to promote locally grown produce and locally made products and to provide a place for local vendors to sell their produce and products to the local community.
Hours & Setup:
• Hours are 11 am to 2 pm on Sundays at Hartford Building Center, 1001 N Oaks Avenue, Hartford, South Dakota.
• Vendors may start setting up 1 hour prior.
• The market is open rain or shine and it is up to the vendor’s discretion to set up in inclement weather.
• Selling spaces will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
Parking & Cleanup:
• Each vendor will be responsible for keeping his or her area clean and picked up during and after the market.
• Parking of all vehicles and placement of display booths, etc. will need to be in a designated area away from the store front allowing for customer parking.
Equipment, Licenses, Tax, Insurance & Supplies:
• It is the responsibility of the vendor to provide any/all tables, chairs, shade devices, signage, change, cash boxes, bags, tape, rope, decorations and display equipment needed.
• It is the responsibility of the vendor to have proper City, County, State and Federal licenses necessary to do business.
• All vendors must adhere to the SD Department of Revenue Rules and Regulations and are responsible for collection, reporting and paying all taxes that apply. Special Event Tax Forms will be provided.
• Vendors are required to comply with applicable codes and regulations of local, state and federal agencies and governing bodies, and it is each vendor’s responsibility to maintain their own compliance. Please contact State of South Dakota Department of Agriculture for specific regulations and licensing requirements that may apply to your products.
• Each vendor is responsible for his or her own liability insurance. Hartford Farmers Market does not provide insurance for vendors, nor does Hartford Farmers Market share in liability of any products sold at the market.
Rules:
• All vendors are required to file an application and waiver in its entirety.
• All vendors are required to conduct themselves properly; displaying courtesy toward patrons and other vendors.
• No dumping. Vendors engaging in such action may be suspended from the market. “Dumping” is defined as selling 25% or below the average market price for the given day.
• Vendors found in violation of one or more rules may be suspended from selling at the market.
